Auraria Student CEC

The Auraria Campus Student Council for Exceptional Children is a group of student leaders from graduate and undergraduate programs at the University of Colorado at Denver and Metropolitan State University.

What we do

Professional Development

The Auraria campus chapter is committed to improving the skills and knowledge base of future and current professionals in the field of special education. Each monthly meeting offers teachers and teacher candidates the opportunity to engage in open discussion on current issues in education and exceptional students. Discussions are enhanced by the inclusion of a different guest speaker/expert each month.

Attend an Auraria SCEC meeting/discussion – Every First Friday of the Month @ 5:00pm at the Panera Bread on 13th and Grant

Speaking Events

Every year the Auraria SCEC brings an individual with unique insight and commentary on the field of special education to the Auraria campus for its Spring Speaker event. Students, professionals, and members of the community are invited to attend. Previous Spring Speakers include Temple Grandin, Kim Peek, Christian Moore, and Kamran Nazeer.
